Wolfschaffner wins 6th Fun-tastic Games in Innsbruck with maximum points

    2006FGIPeterWolfschaffner.jpg Former German international Peter Wolfschaffner averaged 236,86 over 14 games en route to win the 6th Fun-tastic Games at Hollywood-Super-Bowling in Innsbruck, Austria, with the maximum of 42 points.

    The format of this handicap tournament is based on 56 players, who bowl seven two-game match play games. Those 56 players from Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Austria received two bonus points for each game won and another two points for winning the two-game series (maximum six points per match). The point total determined the final standings.

    Wolfschaffner became the first player in the six-year history of the tournament, who accomplished the feat to win all 14 games. After a sluggish start with two sub-par games (180 and 182) resulting in an easy 6-0 victory against Colette Beer (151 and 141), Wolfschaffner played in his own league. The pro shop and bowling center owner from Munich fired games of 229, 206, 246, 267, 247, 256, 238, 236, 258, 235, 279 and 257 to cruise to victory.

     Wolfschaffner outdistanced his nearest competitors, Jessica Dozauer, Marietta Vecchione, Martin Markart and Erika Stolz, by 12 points. Those four were tied at 30 points broke the tie. Dozauer earned the second place with 2854 pinfall total and an average of 196,54. Vecchione was third with 2854. Defending champion and local favorite Kai-Jürgen Eder, Austria, landed in 14th place with 24 points. The picture shows the top ten players. Click on the image to enlarge it.

    The 7th Fun-tastic Games are scheduled for August 11-12, 2007, once again at Hollywood-Super-Bowling in Innsbruck, Austria.
