Moor wins inaugural English Open

    2006BritishOpenPaulMoor.jpg Paul Moor (pictured) beat Stuart Williams, both of England, two-games-to-none in the final match of the inaugural Storm English Open en route to win the 11th stop of the Brunswick Team England ranking season.

    In the best-of-three games match play final, Moor won a close opener, 183-179, and then stormed to the title in game two with a huge 246-195.

    In the semi-finals Moor eliminated Matt Giles, 2-0, while Williams swept the last remaining woman, Zara Glover. 2-0. The qualification consisted of nine games, made up of each bowler's best three-game blocks in a re-entry format. Tore Torgersen, was highest positioned after the qualification with series of 737, 736 and 729.

    Torgersen, along with No. 2 seed Moor earned a bye through to the quarterfinals, only to be beaten by Matt Giles 2-0 (245-191 and 189-184).

    Former Team USA member, Missy Bellinder also made the trip, qualifying with 2064 for 9-games, and again earning a bye to later rounds, Missy was toppled by up and coming junior Nicki Ainge 2-1 (200-225, 222-207, 208-232).

    The English Open will be making its debut on the European Bowling Tour next year as tour stop #21.
