2007 USBC Junior Gold Championships will feature sold-out field

With a new format that allows for the largest field in the history of the event, the 2007 United States Bowling Congress Junior Gold Championships has reached capacity.
All 1,728 spots have been sold for the Junior Gold Championships, which will be held July 7-13 in Buffalo, N.Y. It is the second consecutive year the event has sold out and the third time in the past four years.
The 2006 Junior Gold Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., featured a sold-out field of 1,458 bowlers. In order to give even more bowlers an opportunity to compete, the format of the event was changed to extend qualifying by a day to allow for the additional competitors.
"Given the success of this event in the past, we decided to open it up to even more athletes and the response was enormous," said USBC Chief Officer of Tournaments and Events Roseann Kuhn. "USBC is committed to growing the sport on the youth level and this event is just another example of that commitment."
Held on USBC Sport Bowling lane conditions, the Junior Gold Championships, which is an individual competition, will feature bowlers from across the country. The competitors will battle for spots on USBC Junior Team USA as well as a record $100,000 in scholarship money.
The event will be held in three bowling centers in the Buffalo area. AMF Thruway Lanes will be the host center while competition will also take place at AMF Airport Lanes and Transit Lanes.
USBC Youth members who average 175 or better (boys) or 165 or better (girls) and who are members of the USBC Junior Gold program are eligible to qualify to advance to the Championships.
