Germany sets the pace in Girls Doubles; Ribguth shoots highest individual series in EYC history

18-year-old Janin Ribguth of Germany made history on Easter Sunday in the 20th European Youth Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece, when she posted the highest individual six-game series in the EYC history.

Ribguth (right) had games of 277, 243, 195, 254, 246 and 228 for 1443 or an average of 240.50. Her team mate, Cosima Fitz (above right), 18, added 1066 to give the two Germans the lead in Doubles after Squad 1 of 3 with 2509 pinfall total (209.08).

Lisanne Breeschoten and Carmen Haandrikman (l-r), Netherlands, are second with 2474 and an average of 206.17. Breeschoten had 1217 and Haandrikman rolled a 246 in the final game to finish with 1257 (209.50), the second-highest series in Squad 1. That means Ribguth outaveraged her nearest competitor by 31 pins.

Third place belongs to Finns Jenni Styrman and Petra Koukkari (left to righ with coach Piritta Kantola, center) with 2344, a 195.33 average. Styrman totaled 1186 and Koukkari had 1158. The other Twelve doubles including Georgia Papadimitriou and Christina Kappatou of the host country Greece are already out of the medals.
