Swedish Team Championship playoffs to be broadcasted on Web TV

The Swedish Team Championship playoffs will be held Friday through Sunday, May 11-13 in the city of Sundsvall about 400 kilometers north of Stockholm. According to Hans Karlsson, press officer of the Swedish Bowling Federation, the finals featuring four teams, Pergamon, Falkenberg, Sundbyberg and Avance, will be taped for Web TV.
"It will be the first time that bowling will be broadcasted through Web TV in Sweden," Karlsson said. "The telecast can be reached through www.livestream.se and all you need is you must have Windows Media Player installed."
Defending champion Pergamon, is targeting to win its fifth consecutive Swedish Team Championship title. The team consists of Swedish national coach Tomas Leandersson, national team members Martin Larsen, Robert Andersson and Peter Ljung and some international starts such as the two twohanders, World Cup champion Osku Palermaa, Finland and High Roller champ Jason Belmonte, Australia.
Ljung (2nd), Palermaa, Belmonte and Larsen (all tied for fifth) are just back from the World Ranking Masters in Lake Wales, Fla.
"Four cameras will cover the event, three of these cameras will cover the 8 lanes which are being used," Karlsson added. "The commentary is in Swedish and will be done by BeA Nilsson, but some of the interviews will be in English."
This might be easier, at least for "Belmo", who is, nevertheless, planning to move to Sweden in the near future. The Aussie (left), who regularly competes in Asia and Europe, is tired to spend 30-plus hours and a lot of money for flights from and to Australia.
The Swedish Team Championship is an 8-men team league. Each team is divided into four doubles. Each of them bowls four games, one each against the four opposing doubles. The winning Doubles in each match receive one point. Four rounds of four matches makes 16 points.
In addition, the total pinfall of all eight players in each round will add up and the winning team receives one extra point. With a total of 20 points at stakes (16 plus 4), a team needs 11 points to win a match. The playoffs will be held in best-of-three game format.
