227 players from 43 countries to participate in 2nd Women's World Championships

51 countries have confirmed their participation in the second Women's World Championships but not all will send players. 43 countries with 227 players will compete from August 30 through September 9, 2007 at Bol Obispado in Monterey, Mexico for medals in six disciplines: Singles, Doubles, Trios, 5-Player Team, All Events and Masters.

In conjunction with the championships, bowling's governing bodies - the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs (FIQ) and the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) - will hold their congresses.
Among other important topics such as the reorganization or merger of the FIQ, WTBA and WNBA (World Ninepin Bowling Association) both the congress members will vote on a new president for the term 2008-2011.
Kevin Dornberger, United States, was elected president of the World Tenpin Bowling Association on Wednesday. Alex Popov, Australia, and Bernard Pujol, France, were elected 1st and 2nd vice president.
Jessie Phua of Singapore was elected president of the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs on Thursday at the FIQ Congress. The congress also elected Joan Ricart from Spain and Gustavo Lopez from Guatemala as 1st and 2nd vice president, respectively.
