Carlo Greulich (pictured) from Germany won the traditional Prince de Liège tournament, the first stop of the Belgian Super 6 series, which took place from September 29th to October 5th, in bowling center Le Strike in Crisnée, Liege, Belgium.

The ETBF tournament drew 329 players. According to Christian Vincenzotto, this year's Prince de Liège was quite a challenge compared to previous years as Rene Exelmans, ETBF Senior Technical Delegate, had created a 40-feet long WTBA oil pattern and the center had bought new bowling pins. "We were far from the usual blocked conditions", said tournament manager Vincenzotto. "Each mistake was punished immediately."

All players bowled six games with one lane change after three games. Handicap was given based on average ranging from 0 (over 199 average) to maximum 30 (less than 154 average). The total pinfall of the six games including handicap determined the winner. No finals, no re-entries.

Greulich used a high game of 267 and three 240-plus games for 1398 pinfall total (no handicap) to win the 2008 edition and the 2.500 Euro top prize. Greulich is just the second German player, who has won the Prince de Liege after the late Horst Comes.

Trailing Greulich by 46 pins to land in second place was Nicolas Riquet, Belgium, with 1352, worth 1.000 Euro. Third place went to 15-year-old Kylian Haest with 1348, another member of the growing club of two-handed players. Haest pocketed 600 Euro. The top 52 plus cashed.

The next tournament of the Belgian Super 6 will take place in Alost from October 13-19, 2008.
