The 2006 Belgian National Championships were held over three weekends in three cities - Jumet, October 15-16, 2005, Deurne, November 26-27, 2005, and the finals in Brussels, February 18-19, 2006.

All players bowled one eight game block each in Jumet and Deurne to cut to the top eight who determined the men's and women's champion in seven games round robin match play plus one game position round at bowling alley Bowlmaster in Brussels.

Jean-Marc_Lebon_3869.jpg Defending champion Jean-Marc Lebon captured his second consecutive men's title and the fourth of his career. Lebon used a high game of 299 (left the 4-pin standing) to sit in seventh place in Jumet. He shot a perfect 300-game in Deurne to move into second place. Trailing leader Koen Pellegroms by 63 pins, Lebon rolled another 300 in the penultimate game in Brussels to take the lead. Lebon maintained his lead despite a 225-248 loss against Pellegroms in the position round and captured the title with 5892pinfall total and an average of 239,67. Pellegroms was second at 5858, with Jean-Marc Samain in third at 5652.

Stéphanie Nicolas came from behind to win the women's title. Nicolas was seventh after the first and eight-game block and qualified for the round robin finals in sixth position, trailing top seeded Carolin Witvrouwen by 147 pins.

Witvrouwen averages 182 in the finals to fall to sixth place. After a sluggish start (154, 172, 195) Nicolas posted games of 257, 244, 217 and 257 to hold a slim one-pin lead over Vicky van de Craen before the position round. Nicolas topped van de Craen, 215-176, in the final game and was able to weather a strong challenge by Kirsten Horemans to wrap up the title with 5114 pinfall total and an average of 208,29. Horemans rolled a 234 in the position round but fell 24 pins short to finish in second place with 5090. Vicky van de Craen settled for third place with 5079.
