Ruth Doppler and Philippe Huber win Swiss National Championships

Swiss internationals Ruth Doppler and Philippe Huber were crowned 2006 Swiss National Championships in the women's and men's individual finals last weekend at Castel Bowling in Gland.
Philippe Huber averaged 221,67 in nine match play games and compiled a 7-2 won-loss record (10 pins bonus per win) to cruise to victory with 2065 pinfall total. Huber outaveraged his nearest competitor, Sandro Ancarani, by more than 12 pins. Ancarani finished second with 1934 pinfall total including 50 pins bonus. Trailing Ancarani by mere 14 pins to land in third place was Beat Grauwiler, who won six of his nine matches for a 1920 total.
Ruth Doppler was the sole player to average over 200 in the women's match play finals. Doppler averaged 205,44 and had a 7-2 won-loss record en route to capture the title with 1919 pinfall total. 3-time defending champion Bigi Manico finished second with 1835 (5-4), with Cécile Pakosz in third place at 1782 (6-3).
Huber and Doppler will represent Switzerland at the European Champion Cup (formerly the European Cup for Individuals) in Riga, Latvia, September 25 through October 1, 2006.
