Antin, Alfital win 2010 Israel National Championship

     Shahaf Antin and Aviv Alfital won the women's and men's individual titles in the 2010 Israel National Championship which ended yesterday, July 9, 2010 at Nesher bowling center in Haifa.

    All 35 finalists played six games on short oil, 6 games on long oil and 8 games on dual lane condition (left lane long, right short oil) in the one-week finale.

    The top 8 women and the top 8 men after 20 games advanced to the finals in best-of-three games format.

    Aviv Alfital, the Boys Masters champion at the 2007 European Youth Champion, seeded 6th, eliminated two-time defending champion Or Airam in the semifinal, 2-0 (222-155 and 185-172).

    In the championship match against No. 2 seed Lior Koren, Alfital overcame a 1-0 deficit (145-158) to win his first national title with back to back wins (193-158, 202-182), two-games-to-one.

    2010 European Youth Championships Girls Masters champion Shahaf Antin, seeded second, swept Sara Aviram in the semifinal, 2-0 (222-155, 185-172), and top seeded Liat Vizenfeld in the title match, 2-0 (199-187, 221-210), to claim her first women's national championship.

    Both champions will represent Israel in the 33rd European Champions Cup Oct. 25-31 at Rollhouse Bowling Center in Ankara, Turkey.
