The 2nd Viernheim Open 2006 presented by STORM is the 15th stop of the 2006 European Bowling Tour and for the first time one of its "Major" tournaments.
With 100.000 Euro or app. US$126,360 total prize fund the Viernheim Open is the "richest event" on the EBT Tour.
In the 2005, record 418 participants - 351 men and 67 women - from 23 countries made record 944 entries. Champion Michael Fagan, who bowled three 300-games during the event, pocketed 25.000 Euro. Kegel is the official lane maintenance provider.
Bowlingdigital will cover the event live from Viernheim commencing Thursday, September 14 all the way through to the finals on Sunday, September 17.

Top 58 after qualification, Top 6 from Desperado Squad (seeded 59-64), 2 Players on 1 Lane, Lane will change 2 Lane Pairs to the right after 1 Game. 8 games starting from scratch.
General final rules
Top 40 after the semi final will be qualified for the final rounds.
Top 8 after the semi final will be set for final round 3. Position after the semi final will count for all final matches (best vs. last). All matches will be 2 players, best-of-three games.

Top 9-40 after the semi final (9 vs. 40, 10 vs. 39, 11 vs. 38 etc.) The losers in these 16 matches will be ranked 25-40 according to their position after the semi final.
Final Round 2
16 winners from the final round 1. The losers in these 8 matches will be ranked 17-24 according to their position after the semi final.
Final Round 3
8 winners from final round 2 plus top 8 after the semi final. The losers in these 8 matches will be ranked 9-16 according to their position after the semi final.
Final Round 4
8 winners from the final round 3. The losers in these 4 matches will be ranked 5-8 according to their position after the semi final.
