    Englishmen lead Squad 6 to move into the top 6; German's Oliver Pescher leads Chandra Open 2012 since the first Squad with 1379; cut for 30th place surpassed the 1200 mark (1213, 202.17 average)

    2010BucharestMattMiller.jpg2012EBT04StuartWilliams2.jpgOliver Pescher of Germany held on to the lead in the Chandra Open in Nieuwegein, Netherlands, as 77 players from eleven countries have completed at least one six-game block at Chandra Bowling in Nieuwegein, Netherlands.

    Pescher posted a 1379 series, an average of 229.83, on the first day of qualifying including the tournament's first perfecto in the last game.

    Team England's Matt Miller (pictured left) and Stuart Williams (right) paced Squad 6 on Thursday (Squads 4 and 5 have been cancelled) en route to move into the top six in the overall qualifying standings.

    Miller had a high game of 254, four games between 223 and 235 and a low game of 193 to lead the squad with 1355 (225.83), good for fifth place overall. Williams, England's first PBA champion, used high games of 269 and 247 to sit in sixth place with 1348 (224.67).

    The top sixth at the end of the qualifying will receive a first-round bye for Sunday's finals.

    Dutch international Nicole Sanders (right) was mere one pin behind Williams on Thursday to overtake seventh place with 1347 including handicap.

    Qualifying continues Friday, Sept. 28 with Squad 8 and 9 scheduled for 4 and 8 p.m. CEST (Squads 7 has been cancelled).

    The Chandra Open 2012 will be held Sept. 24-30, 2012 at 16-lane Chandra Bowling in Nieuwegein, Netherlands, The tournament is the 15th stop of the 2012 European Bowling Tour and the fifth out of seven EBT "Satellite" tournaments this season.

    The Chandra Open offers total prize fund of 24.600 Euro with 5.000 Euro going to the winner and 3.000 Euro to the runner-up, while the third and fourth place finishers will receive 2.000 Euro and 1.000, respectively.

    Qualifying of the Chandra Open (six-game series, unlimited re-entries) runs from Monday, Sept. 24 through Saturday, Sept. 29 with the last Squad 12 scheduled for 6 p.m. CEST and concludes with the Desperado Squad slated for 9.30 p.m. Women receive 8 pins handicap each game throughout the entire event, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.

    A total of 38 players will advance to the finals on Sunday, Sept. 30 - the top 30 players from the overall qualifying standings plus the top 4 from a separate leader board of Squad 1-3, and the top 4 from the Desperado Squad. The top 6 qualifiers earn one bye.

    The other 32 players will bowl six games starting from scratch with the top 10 advancing to the second round. The top 10 from Round One and the top six qualifiers will bowl six games starting from scratch to cut to the top 8.

    Those eight will bowl another six-game block with the pinfall from Round Two being carried forward. The player with the highest 12-game total will be declared the winner.
