Cooley, who averaged 230.58 over 12 games in round robin match play to earn the No. 1 seed for the men's stepladder finals, stormed to his third gold medal of the championships with a 249-181 win over Javier Tan of Singapore.

Tan, seeded third, eliminated second-seeded Christopher Oates of England in the opening match, 177-169. Tan received the silver medal and Oates took the bronze.

The women's championship match was an all-Malaysian affair with top-seeded Siti Shazwani and second-seeded Dayang Khairuniza squaring off. Khairuniza claimed the first gold medal for Malaysia in the championships with a 199-188 win.

In a low-scoring first match, Khairuniza earned the right to bowl her team mate for the title by defeating No. 3 seed, Joanna Attard of Malta, 181-140. Shazwani earned the silver medal and Attard got bronze.

Australia led the medal tally with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals and also won the Triple Diamond Trophy for the highest country all events total averaging 212.16 for 96 games.

This was the sixth edition of the biennial championship which is open to all federations that are members of the Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Federation (CTBF). Each team consisted of two men and two women (Gibraltar has sent two men only).

Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Mixed Teams, All Events and Masters.
