Dundonald International Ice Bowl in Belfast, Northern Ireland (Nov. 22-30, 2008)

2008CTBFLogo.jpg Belfast is gearing up for the arrival of teams from 17 Commonwealth countries that will compete in the fourth biennial Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship.

Following previous tournaments in Scotland, Cyprus and Australia, the Northern Ireland Tenpin Bowling Federation launched a successful bid to host this prestigious event and in the spirit of the "Friendly Games" motto of the Commonwealth Games Federation, the NITBF Organizing Committee has arranged a full program of social activities to augment the busy schedule of competition that will take place at Dundonald International Ice Bowl next week.

Bowlers and officials from Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Cyprus, England, Gibraltar, Guernsey, India, Jersey, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, Singapore, Wales, and the host country of Northern Ireland will compete in individual and mixed Singles, Doubles and Team events for CGF-endorsed Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

The CTBF perpetual Triple Diamond Trophy, representing the three international zones of the sport of bowling, will also be awarded to the highest scoring team overall.

Play will commence at 10am on Monday, November 24 following the Team Managers' meeting, Official Practice and the Opening Ceremony this weekend. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.

A highlight of the Championship will take place on Monday evening at Parliament Buildings Stormont, where Sports Minister, Gregory Campbell will host a welcome reception for international competitors, and senior officials of the sport's governing body who are coming to Belfast to witness this exciting Championship.
