    Marshall Holman joins the field as Commissioner’s Exemption

    PBA50thAnniversaryLogo_small.jpg Timothy Behrendt of St. Louis, Mo., rolled a 1,542 seven-game total Wednesday to top a field of 61 non-exempt bowlers competing for six berths in the PBA Bayer Earl Anthony Medford Classic at Lava Lanes.

    Joining Behrendt as top finishers in the Tour Qualifying Round were PBA members Tom Sorce of Blasdell, N.Y., 1,513; P.J. Haggerty of Clovis, Calif., 1,498; George Lambert IV of Hamilton, Ontario, 1,495 and Troy Wollenbecker of Miami, Fla., 1,495.

    The TQR qualifiers will advance to the Round of 64 Thursday along with PBA Hall of Famer Marshall Holman of Medford, who is bowling in the tournament at the PBA’s invitation, and Azidi Ameran of Malaysia who rolled a 1,419 for seven games to top the amateur bowlers in the TQR. Ameran is the husband of Shalin Zulkifli, who competes in the PBA Women’s Series.

    The 64-player PBA Bayer Earl Anthony Medford Classic field will bowl two seven-game qualifying rounds Thursday to cut the field to 32 for match play competition on Friday. The top four match play finalists will compete in the ESPN-televised finals on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. PT.

    The Medford stop also features the seventh and final PBA Women’s Series event of the year. Women’s Series qualifying also gets underway Thursday with the championship round of that event taking place during Sunday’s ESPN telecast.

    The PBA Bayer Earl Anthony Medford Classic is the 11th stop on the 2008-09 Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour.
