Mini-Eliminator signs 3-year deal with South Point Las Vegas
03/20/09
Pinacle Events, owners of the world famous Mini-Eliminators (Minis), announced an agreement with The South Point Hotel & Casino to host the Minis for the next three years.
This historic partnership, which covers a total of 7 events, guarantees The Mini-Eliminators will be held twice a year for the next 3 years. The first event of the new contract is the Summer Mini; which is being held from Tuesday, June 30 through Saturday, July 4, 2009.
The multi-event agreement was recently signed in Las Vegas by the South Point Director of Bowling Mike Monyak and Pinacle Events' President Steve Sanders.
"It's a partnership that was destined to happen" states Mike Monyak. "The Mini-Eliminators were held at The Orleans for eight years under my tenure and once I moved over to The South Point it was one of my first priorities to get Steve to move The Minis here."
Sanders was just as excited to reunite with Monyak"We held our most recent Mini-Eliminator here (February, 09) and had a 40% increase over our previous event. The bowlers loved The South Point and it was a "no-brainer" teaming up with Mike Monyak again.
The South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa is a Mediterranean themed destination that features a beautiful 64 lane bowling center. The bowling center has one of the largest concourses in the world and features multiple meeting rooms to comfortably host major events like The Mini-Eliminator. The USBC and PBA both currently host events at The South Point.
The South Point Hotel features over 2,100 rooms and suites, the Costa del Sur Spa and Salon, a Pool and Fitness Center, six bars, eight restaurants, 16 screen movie theater, a headliner showroom, and a live entertainment lounge.
The casino has over 2,300 slot machines, 60 table games, poker room, race and sports book, and a 600-seat Bingo Hall. Bowlers and guests will be treated to an incredible experience when visiting the property.
The Mini-Eliminator has been running for 15 years and has paid out over $20 million in prize money. Although The Mini-Eliminator is an amateur only tournament many of the current PBA Exempt Players, including former Mini-Eliminator Champion Chris Barnes, has used the Mini as a stepping stone to a professional career.
The Mini-Eliminator uses a 3-game scratch qualifying format by division with an elimination (beat half-the-field) finals format. One in ten bowlers per division per squad advance to the finals and 1 in 5 bowlers cash.
