Petraglia averages over 246 to take the lead as qualifying in Mooresville reaches halfway point

John Petraglia (pictured), Jackson, N.J., one of the newest inductees into the USBC Hall of Fame, took the lead in the qualifying of the PBA Senior Mooresville Miller High Life Classic in North Carolina, the third of 12 events of the 2009 PBA Senior Tour.
Petraglia averaged 246.52 over eight games to lead the field of 144 players with 1972 pinfall total. Petraglia also rolled one of total eight 300 games in the round. Kim Buell, Vince Honeycutt, Stan Wells, Ron Mohr, Dennis Psaropoulas, Ron Profitt and Rodney Tramp had the others.
ABC Hall of Famer Bill Spigner, Vernon Hills, Ill., was just 26 pins behind in second place with 1944. Another four players also cracked the 1900-bar: 3, Bob Handley, Winter Park, Fla., 1,935; 4, Kenny Parks, Hammond, Ind., 1,925; 5, Ron Mohr, Eagle River, Alaska, 1,922; and 6, Mark Williams, Beaumont, Texas, 1,901.
Mohr (right) won the first two stops this season, the PBA Senior Jackson Open and the PBA Senior Dayton Classic.
Competition continues with the second eight-game qualifying block on May 5. The field will then be cut to the top 32 players who will advance to best-of-five match play beginning May 6 at 9 a.m. Match play continues all day on May 6 with the Round of 8 and championship rounds scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Eastern. Practice and pro-ams will take place on May 3.
