Doug Kent wins 7th Euro-Med Storm International Masters Challenge from top seed

10-time PBA champion Doug Kent (pictured left), United States, defeated Hong Kong's rising star Michael Mak (right) in a surprisingly low-scoring title match, 192-180, to win the 7th Euro-Med Storm International Masters Challenge at Midtown Bowl in Manila, Philippines and the one million Philippine Pesos top prize (approx. 21,000 U.S. Dollar).
Kent, 42, the 2006-07 PBA Player of the Year, earned the No. 1 seed for the four-player stepladder finals by averaging 232.13 in round robin. 15-year-old opponent Mak, the No. 2 seed, fired a 296 in the semifinal against Korean women's pro, Cha Mi-Jung, who has tossed one of three perfect games in the tournament.
In the opening match, third seeded Cha, who received 8 pins handicap each game, eliminated 2009 USBC Masters champion John Nolen, United States, 210-200.
Mak received 500.000 Pesos for second place, Cha earned 250.000 for third and Nolen garnered 125.000 for fourth.
Zulmazran Zulkifli and Aaron Kong, both Malaysia, received 100.000 and 95.000 for fifth and sixth place, resp. Hussain Al-Suwaidi pocketed 90.000 for 7th and 2-time PBA champion and 2007-09 PBA Rookie of the Year, Rhino Page got 85.000 for 8th place.
