Sim Ui-Jin, Basil Low end 1st Asian Youth Games with victory in Masters

Bowling Championships at Orchid Bowl, Singapore (July 3-6, 2009)

2009AYGTop3GirlsBasilLowSimUiJin_small.jpgSim Ui-Jin from Korea and Basil Low (r-l) Singapore, won the coveted Girls and Boys Masters titles to end the bowling competition of the 1st Asian Youth Games at Orchid Bowl, Singapore. 17-year old Low, the No. 1 seed, posted two big scores (236, 265) to fly past #2 Choi Kyung-Hwan, Korea, to win the Boys title with 501-433 two-game pinfall. Sim Ui-Jin, seeded third, took revenge as she defeated No. 2 Darshini Krishna, 249-199, and No. 1 New Hui Fen (left), both Singapore, 433-350, to claim the Masters title in the Girls Division.

Hong Kong's boys and Korean girls strike gold in Team event at 1st Asian Youth Games

The teams from the host country earned the silver medals while the Japanese girls and the Korean boys took bronze.

Singapore and Korea claim Doubles titles at 1st Asian Youth Games

2009AYGDarshiniKrishnaNewHuiFen_small.jpgThe host country of Singapore won its second gold medal in the 1st Asian Youth Games 2009 when Singles champion New Hui Fen (on the right) teamed with Darshini Krishna to win the Girls Doubles at Orchid Bowl, Singapore. Choi Kyung-Hwan and Hwang Dong-Jun won the Boys Doubles to capture the first gold medal of the games for Korea. Thailand and Korea (girls) and Japan and Singapore (boys) earned the silver and bronze medals, resp.

Singapore wins first gold medal in Girls Singles at 1st Asian Youth Games

Hong Kong's Michael Mak claims gold in Boys Singles

2009AYGNewHuiFen_small.jpgNew Hui Fen (pictured) from the host country of Singapore cruised to victory in the Girls Singles in the 1st Asian Youth Games bowling competition Wednesday at Orchid Bowl, Singapore. Trailing Hui Fen by 45 pins to earn the silver medal was Japan's Misaki Mukotani with Oh Nu-Ri, Korea, in third. On the boys' side, Michael Mak from Hong Kong claimed the gold medal with 1396. Koreans Park Ji-Soo and Hwang Dong-Jun earned silver and bronze.
