Netherlands Bowling Federation announces teams for 2013 World Championships

The Dutch team roster for 2013 World Championships begins to take shape as the Netherlands Bowling Federation (NBF) announced the selection of eight women and eight men, who will battle for the six spots in each team.
The combined World Championships will be contested from August 18-31 at Sunset Station's Strike Zone bowling center, a 72-laner in Henderson, Nev., in suburban Las Vegas.
Three men and three women earned a spot on the teams after finishing the "Road to the World Championships 2013" selection process in 1, 2, 3. Players had to participate in certain tournaments where they were ranked by total pinfall, but also based on their spare percentage, pocket percentage and pocket/strike percentage.
Jeroen van Geel (pictured left) led the men's selection process ahead of Johnny Spil and Roel Mol. Ghislaine van der Tol (right) led the women's field and was followed by Lisanne Breeschoten and Wendy Kok.
Coaches Nico Thienpondt, Peter van Zijp and Marcel van den Bosch selected another five men and five women to complete the national teams.
On the men's side Alex de Vries, Jeffrey van de Wakker, Jeroen van der Heide, Jord van Weeren and Patrick Meka were the selections. The coaches picked Bianca Wiekeraad, Cheska Tomas, Danielle van der Meer, Mandy van de Louw and Nicole Sanders for the women's team.
After several weeks of training, the coaches will announce the final six men and six women who will represent the Netherlands at the first combined World Championships since 2003.
