Indonesia's Nadia Pramanik and Benshir Layoso of the Philippines (pictured above, l-r) captured the open masters titles in the 13th Indonesia International Open Bowling Championship which concluded Sunday at Jaya Ancol bowling center in Jakarta with the six-player stepladder finals.

Both title matches went into overtime as top-seeded Pramanik and Layoso both lost the first match. As in most of the major tournaments in Asia, the No. 1 seed must be defeated twice to win the title.

2015INAOpenWomenTop3.jpgDefending women's champion Bernice Lim (left) of Singapore defeated Pramanik in a high-scoring match, 257-246, to force a decider, but the Indonesia countered with a 214-186 win to seal the victory, worth 70.000.000 Indonesian rupiah or approximately $5,125.

Lim, who coasted to an easy win over Alisha Iman Cheong (right) of Malaysia and her fellow countrywoman Novie Phang in the semi-final, 240-171-135, received 35.000.000 Rp for second place, while Cheong and Phang pocketed 17.500.000 Rp and 10.000.000 Rp for third and fourth place, respectively.

The 13th Indonesia International Open Bowling Championship was held from Oct. 17-25 at Jaya Ancol bowling center, Jakarta, Indonesia. Men and women competed in separate divisions. Qualifying (highest six game total; three-game block; unlimited re-entries) ran thru October 23.

The top 10 women and the top 12 men from each pool (local, overseas and mixed) including defending champions Bernice Lim, Singapore and Jeong Tae Hwa, Korea, advanced to the finals. The top 3 players each from the local and overseas pool earned one bye.

The other 24 women and 30 men rolled eight games scratch to cut to the top 15 women and top 18 men, who met the top qualifiers in Round Two. The top six players each after another eight games scratch were seeded 1-6 in the stepladder finals.

Players 4-6 opened the action with a one-game shootout match. The winner advanced to the semifinal match, where they took on the No. 2 and 3 seeds. The winner of that match went against the top-seeded player for the title and first prize check.

The top 16 Asian men and women advance to the eighth leg of the 2015 Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) Tour which will be contested on Monday, Oct. 26 at Jaya Ancol bowling center.
