More than 8,600 teams already have signed up for the world's largest participatory sporting event for women, which will be held in Charlotte, N.C., beginning April 12 and concluding July 2.

"We are pleased with the pace of entries so far, and we're hoping even more teams will take advantage of this opportunity to compete in one of bowling's great events," said USBC Chief Officer for Tournaments and Events Roseann Kuhn. "Charlotte truly is a perfect destination for the Women's Championships. It allows bowlers to compete while also visiting a fantastic vacation destination."

Open to women who hold USBC adult membership, the Women's Championships consists of team, doubles and singles events in five divisions: Classic for bowlers with averages of 190 and above; Division 1 for averages of 170-189; Division 2 for averages of 150-169; Division 3 for averages of 131-149; and Division 4 for averages of 130 and below.

Reservations are accepted by calling (800) 514-2695, ext. 3173 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Central time Monday through Friday until the March 30 entry deadline. The captain's team dates and times will be confirmed at the time of the call. Reservations also may be accepted through online requests, fax (414) 421-9789, or regular mail.

To make the reservation process run smoothly when calling, team captains are asked to have their credit card (Visa or MasterCard) ready and have three team date choices.

In January, USBC also extended the entry deadline to March 30 for the Open Championships in Reno, Nev. Entry information for the Open Championships may be obtained by calling (877) 539-7930.
