2006USBCWomensChampionshipLogo.jpg Local bowling fans attending the United States Bowling Congress Women' s Championships presented by the Eldorado, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus were able to watch two of their local hall-of-famers compete on the same team Friday night at the National Bowling Stadium.

Becky Tollefsrud and Kristy Gilbert, both from Reno and both in the Greater Reno Women's Bowling Association (GRWBA) Hall of Fame for superior performance and outstanding achievement, bowled as teammates on the Parentela De Cruz team in Division I.

One of the unique aspects of being a member of USBC is that while just a very few are able to gain recognition in the National USBC Hall of Fame, many are able to achieve fame locally and can showcase their talents on the national level by competing in the Women's Championships.

The two have enjoyed parallel careers, bowling together for more than 20 years and sharing much of the same accolades.

"We're proud of the fact that we're in the Reno Hall of Fame and we always look forward to when the nationals come to the National Bowling Stadium," said Becky Tollefsrud. "Even though our accomplishments have been at the local level, it's always great to compete on a national stage like we do here."

Tollefsrud, was the 14th woman to be inducted into the Reno Hall of Fame in February 2002. She averaged over 179 for more than 10 years, with her highest average at 194 in the 1999-2000 season. She recorded a four-game series of 899 in 1998-99, and shot a career high game of 288 in 1995-96, and 1998-99. She was the 1997-98 Reno Bowling Association Division I Scratch Series medal winner. When she's not bowling, she works for a bowling center in Reno.

Kristy Gilbert was the 16th member elected to the Hall of Fame in March 2005 for being "consistently one of the top 25 on the high average list." That included her 190 average in the 2003-04 season; her highest series of 690 in 1998-99; and GRWBA Queen's Tournament champion in 1988, 1989 and 1992. Gilbert enjoys a full-time career caring for her twin five-year-olds Robert and Jacob.

Rounding out the Parentela De Cruz team were Emma Gilbertson, who is Kristy Gilbert's mother; Alberta Anderson; and Karen Suponch. The team recorded a 2,552 pinfall at this year's USBC Women's Championships, with Suponch firing a 545; Anderson, 526; Gilbert, 523; Tollefsrud, 515; and Gilbertson, 443.

Kegel is the official lane maintenance provider of USBC.
