Possible construction failure at Bowling de Provence causes cancellation of three squads

Right after Men Squad A has finished their second block of qualifying, in the 46th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup the WTBA Technical Delegate found some unusual dust on lane 29. After a closer inspection he noticed a crack in one of the support columns that supports the second floor.

An engineer was called in to inspect the situation while a lot of players, officials and guest had left the building. After two hours of delay QubicaAMF decided to cancel the today's Men Squad B and both women's squads because they could only have used 16 lanes and did not received a written statement by the engineer that the place was safe.

All players, officials and guests were transported back to the official hotel, Lou Pigno where there will have to wait for further announcement.

According to the very last information, if the tournament will be continued, Men Squad A will not bowl on Wednesday, while Men Squad B and Women Squad A and B will complete their second block of qualifying. The third block would be bowled on Thursday after which the cut to the top 24 men and top 24 women will be made (after 15 games instead of 20 as usually planned).

    Stay tuned for more information.
