Chris Barnes' (pictured left) $50,000 first prize in the PBA World Championship on Jan. 16 vaulted him into the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour earnings lead after six events with a total of $57,860, more than $7,000 ahead of World Championship runner-up Bill O'Neill (right) who earned $25,000 for a $50,090 total.

O'Neill leads the PBA Tour average race after six events, bowling at a 226.00 pace for 162 games. Barnes is second with a 224.33 average for 143 games. O'Neill also leads the "high performance" stats with one title (Pepsi Viper Championship), three championship round appearances, five match play finals and six cashes in six events.

Kulick back in media spotlight as $1 million PBA Tournament of Champions begins

Kelly Kulick returned to the news media spotlight as she opened defense of her PBA Tournament of Champions title at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas.

Kulick, the first and only woman to win a Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour title, arrived in Las Vegas early and did a series of interviews with KABC-TV (Los Angeles), News 12 New Jersey, Fox Interactive, Comcast Sports Net, WSVN FOX (Miami), SportsNews Satellite and ABC News One late last week in advance of her opening qualifying round at Red Rock on Monday.

She also did telephone interviews with ESPN.com and ESPNW, and will be featured in a Tournament of Champions feature story in USA Today on Wednesday. During her pre-TOC interview series, Kulick expressed an interest in trying out for the popular "Dancing with the Stars" television series. To be continued.

Buckley wins Senior Tri-Regional in West Virginia

PBA Hall of Famer Roy Buckley (left) of Westerville, Ohio, defeated Harry Sullins (right) of Chesterfield Township, Mich., 226-204, to win the Professional Bowlers Association Central/East/South Tri-Region Parkersburg Senior Classic at Pike Street Lanes on Jan. 16.

The title was Buckley's first of the season and the eighth PBA Regional title of his career. He earned $1,500 along with his title. Buckley edged Ron Profitt of Brookville, Ohio, 185-174, and Sullins defeated Kent Wagner of Palmetto, Fla., 209-179, in the semifinal round to set up the championship match.
