Dominic Barrett wins The Emir Cup 2011 in Doha, Qatar

Reigning European Bowling Tour ranking champion Dominic Barrett (pictured left), England, skipped the third stop of the 2011 European Bowling Tour in Tilburg to participate in The Emir Cup 2011 at Qatar Bowling Center in Doha, Qatar.
The Englishman led the qualifying to be seeded into the second round of the finals where he finished third to earn the No. 3 seed for the single-elimination finals over two-games decided by total pinfall.
In the first game of the title match against local favorite and two-time defending champion Mubarak Al-Muraikhi (right), Barrett struck on all but the first and the last shot yet took only a 47-pind lead, 287-240.
The second game was close until the seventh frame when Barrett went off the sheet for 240-211 and a 527-470 victory. Barrett pocketed 75,000 Qatari riyal (approx. US$20,600 or 14.720 Euro) for the win and Al-Muraikhi was consoled with QAR 40,000.
In the semifinals, Barrett eliminated No. 8 seed, Mohammed Al-Rajeebah, Kuwait, 441-388 and Al-Muraikhi ousted Jassem Darwish, Kuwait, 397-388. The Kuwaitis garnered QAR 13,000 apiece for third and fourth place.
In the opening round Al-Rajeebah upset Hong Kong's Wu Siu Hong, 438-394, who rolled a perfect game in the second round of the finals en route to earn the No. 1 seed fort he single-elimination finals.
The Emir Cup 2011 drew 81 players from 14 countries.
