Arnar David Jonsson (pictured left) of Iceland and England's Autum Chamberlain (right) ended the 24th European Youth Championships with victory in Boys and Girls Masters match play Easter Sunday at Dream-Bowl Palace in Unterföhring, Germany.

In the boys title match in best-of-three games format, Jonsson, seeded 18th after finishing in 18th place in All Events, swept No. 7 Robin Menacher, Germany, two-games-to-none. Jonsson won the first game 225-209 and secured the title with a 224-175 win in game #2.

On the girls side, Chamberlain, the No. 8 seed, flew past No. 6 Andrea Hansen, Norway, 230-202 and 211-181 to wrap up the title, 2-0.

The top 24 boys and the top 24 girls in All Events (combined results of Singles, Doubles and Team) battled in best-of-three game matches until the winner was determined. The top eight in each division earned one bye and were seeded into the Round of 16. Jonsson had to go the distance and eliminated No. 15 Niko Liukkonen, Finland, in the opening Round of 24, 2-1, then swept No. 5 Markus Jansson, Sweden, in the Round of 16, 2-0, and No. 6 Arturs Levikins, Latvia, in the quarterfinal, 2-1.

In the semifinal, Jonsson topped Christopher Lam, England, in the deciding third game, 227-158, to advance to the title match, 2-1. In the other semifinal match, Menacher swept Michael Nock, England, 2-0. Menacher took silver and England's Lam and Nock shared the bronze medal.

Both girls finalists bypassed the first round of the finals. Chamberlain eliminated No. 10 Line Berg Almestrand, Norway, in the Round of 16, 2-1, and went on to defeat compatriot Bethany Hedley, seeded third, in the quarterfinal, and No. 7 Daria Pajak, Poland, both two-games-to-none.

Hansen held off No. 24 Amanda Larkin, Ireland, who sidelined No. 1 Daria Kovalova, Ukraine, and No. 2 Adina Kindzule, Latvia, in the Round of 16 and quarterfinal, respectively, in two games.

Hansen received the silver medal while Larkin and Pajak had to settle for the bronze medals.

A total of 12 countries shared the medals at the 24th European Youth Championships. England led the overall medal tally with two gold, one silver and four bronze medals. The English girls also led the girls medal tally with two gold, one silver and one bronze followed by the Ukraine with two gold medals (Daria Kovalova in Singles and All Events). The Swedes led the boys medal tally with one gold, two silver and one bronze.

The European Youth Championships was divided in two divisions - boys and girls. Each team consisted of maximum four male and four female players, who must not have reached the age of 19 before August 31st, 2011.

Players competed for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Teams, All Events (18 games) and Masters (top 24 in All Events, single-elimination, best-of-three games) on a 40-feet sport compliant oil pattern (pdf file).
