Mirai Ishimoto (l.), 16, of Japan and Jesper Svensson (r.), 19, of Sweden won the girls' and boys' championship matches of the 13th CGSE World Youth Championships in dramatic fashion to earn the gold medals Friday afternoon at the 40-lane South China Athletic Association bowling center in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, China. The victory banquet, slated for 7 p.m. at Panda Hotel, will conclude the 13th World Youth Championships.

Japan's Shion Izumune, 15, and USA's Wesley Low, 17, averaged 213.11 and 234.67 to win the gold medals in All-Events at the 13th CGSE World Youth Championships. As in Singles and Doubles, the Japanese girls earned the top seed for the Team finals. Low rolled the first 300 game of the Championships to lead the U.S. boys to the top seed.
Junior Team USA's Wesley Low rolled the first 300 game of the 13th CGSE World Youth Championships at SCAA bowling center in Hong Kong, China, in the first game of the second 3-game block of the Boys Team event. It was the fifth perfecto in WYC history and the fourth by a boy. PBA star Tommy Jones, United States, was the first youth bowler who achieved perfection (1996) and was followed Mubarak Al Muraikhi of Qatar (1998) and Syimir Abdul Razak of Malaysia (2010). Daniela Alvarado of Mexico (2008) is the only girl in the elite 300-club.

In the girl's title match, Yang Su Jin (r.) defeated Shion Izumune of Japan, 236-208, while Choi Woo Sub (r.) topped

A ceremony displaying Hong Kong identity and the relationship with China ended with World Bowling President Kevin Dornberger and the other VIPs performing the
"eye-dotting ceremony" for the lion dance after
which IOC member Timothy T. T. Fok, GBS, JP, declared the Championships open.
In the days leading up to their main task at the 2014 World Bowling Youth Championships, the members of Junior Team USA have been on the lanes in Hong Kong hoping to leave their mark in a different way. The eight Junior Team USA members (in the back), all first-timers at the World Youth Championships, were invited to join their counterparts from the event's host country (in the front) in a series of events focused on philanthropy, coaching and a little competition.
On Monday, August 4, 2014 at 12:00 the chairman and the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress hosted a press conference cum luncheon for community activities at the Regal Hongkong Hotel, one of the three official hotels for The Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society World Youth Championships. The 13th World Youth Championships will be held from August 6-15 at SCAA Bowling Center featuring more than 250 boys and girls from 46 countries.
With hopes of making following competitive bowling easier and simpler for a majority of people and mainstream media, World Bowling has created a new group tasked with exploring alternative scoring systems. World Bowling president and CEO Kevin Dornberger has announced the formation of the Alternate Bowling Scoring System working group that will find a way to engage non-bowling spectators to help the sport grow. Dornberger said the goal for this group is to come up with an initial recommendation by Dec. 1, 2014.
