Premier School for Bowling Center Management kicks off International Bowl Expo week
06/22/09
A condensed version of the Proprietors' Association of America School for Bowling Center Management kicked off the International Bowl Expo in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Management School at The Orleans Hotel consists of four days of intense instruction taught by leading bowling experts. It covers Marketing of Open Play, Parties and Special Events, League Development, Customer Service, Operating Standards, Human Resources, Food and Beverage Operations, Financial Reports and Benchmarking.
Registration for the International Bowl Expo started on Saturday at the host hotel, the Mandalay Bay Resort, and continued on Sunday. IBE 2009 will get underway on Monday morning at 8 a.m. with the BPAA Annual Meeting Breakfast in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
The Management School was held June 19 to June 22 so that visitors to Bowl Expo, June 21-26, will have the opportunity to attend the Management School without interfering with their visit to Bowl Expo.
This school has been very successful since its introduction several years ago and has received much praise from those who have attended, whether they be new to the bowling business or industry veterans.
BPAA has scheduled this special session so as to allow international proprietors the opportunity to experience the school and by holding it just a few days before the start of Bowl Expo it should make it cost effective for overseas attendees.
However, just two international proprietors, Henri and Laurent Valcke from Belgium, attended this year's Management School. The Valcke family is the Brunswick distributor for the BENELUX and France and owns six bowling centers including its flagship, Plaza Bowling in Saint Maximin near Paris, which hosts the prestigious Brunswick Euro Challenge.
According to Wally Hall, International Strategies Committee Chair and BPAA Education & Training Committee Chair, this was a wonderful opportunity to receive high quality education and training from successful industry experts.
Those, who missed the opportunity, should mark June 27 through July 1, 2010, on their calendar when the International Bowl Expo will return to Las Vegas, this time to the Hilton Hotel and the LV Convention Center.
