Dana Miller-Mackie leads going into match play at USBC Senior Queens

    2011USBCSQDanaMillerMackie.jpgUSBC Hall of Famer Dana Miller-Mackie of Albuquerque, N.M., was extremely ill during the second round of qualifying at the USBC Senior Queens, but battled back to take the lead after three rounds Monday.

    Miller-Mackie finished with a 3,278 total for 15 games to edge out second-round leader Patti Schultz of Braidwood, Ill., by two pins (3,276), while first-round leader and first-time Senior Queens participant Cynthia Johnson of Bowie, Md., finished third with 3,218. Defending champion Char Hammel of Las Vegas qualified 26th with 2,936.

    The top 32 finishers now will enter the double-elimination match-play format. The final spot in match play went to Debra Sinek of Odenton, Md., with 2,898.

    The Senior Queens finals will be broadcast live on BOWL.com on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Eastern. The championship round will be televised live on ESPN2 on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. EDT.
