Monday evening at the Cahman Center in Las Vegas. Real action starts on
Tuesday morning 9am local time with the the Singles event. 228 of the best female bowler in the world from 45 WTBA member
federations were split into three squads to bowl six games on the Stockholm pattern, the shorter pattern of the two chosen by Technical delegate Daniel Falconi, a standout from Mexico. All players will bowl one six-game block. The top 4 players at the end
of the day will advance to the finals on Thursday, July 30.
The 2009 Women's World Championships will be held at a specially constructed bowling arena at Cashman Center in Las Vegas that includes 60 lanes, stadium spectator seating, multiple pro shops, large state-of-the art scoring screens built above the lanes and much more. 228 of the best female amateur bowlers in the world representing 45 member federations of the World Tenpin Bowling Association will compete over the next six days for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All Events and Masters.

In true Las Vegas fashion, Cher and Elvis impersonators helped kick off the 2009 World Tenpin Bowling Association World Women's Championships at Cashman Center on Monday night. The opening ceremonies introduced the 45 countries that will be competing this week and celebrated the event's return to the United States for the first time since it was held at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., in 1995. The 228 competitors will take to the lanes beginning with singles Tuesday
morning at 9 a.m. PDT.

The total number of players was announced by the host federation, the United States Bowling Congress, after yesterday's unofficial practice session. The total marks the most countries to compete in the World Women's Championships since it split with the men's championships after the 2003 event in Malaysia.

The USBC Open Championships Lanes at Cashman Center is a specially constructed bowling arena that includes 60 lanes, stadium spectator seating, multiple pro shops, large state-of-the art scoring screens built above the lanes and much more. The construction of the venue began in December 2008 and it took nearly 45 days to complete. Cashman Center hosted the USBC Masters and the USBC Open Championships. Before the temporary lanes will be removed, the 2009 Women's World Championships will be staged from July 24 through Aug. 3, 2009.

It has been 22 years since the last time the Team USA women claimed the team gold medal at the World Tenpin Bowling Association World Women's Championships, and they are ready to end that drought next week at Cashman Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The team will include Carolyn Dorin-Ballard (l.) and Wendy Macpherson (r.), Liz Johnson, Kim Terrell-Kearney, Lynda Barnes and Stefanie Nation. The six bowlers have combined for more than 60 professional titles and nearly 30 years of Team USA service.

World Tenpin Bowling Association president Kevin Dornberger, United States, has announced that because of formal mistakes in decisions of some Bye Rules at last Presidium meeting, WTBA Presidium meeting in beginning of July had an email voting on some issues. The result of this email voting effects some former published changes to be effective at WWC 2009 in Las Vegas. The Double Jump rule is cancelled and also a small correction of 4.21.1.d. The Technical delegate Daniel Falconi has decided Stockholm for the short and Athens for the medium.

A record number of countries will compete in the 2009 World Tenpin Bowling Association Women's World Championships from July 26-Aug. 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. With the entry deadline now passed, a total of 46 countries have sent in notification that they will compete in the event, surpassing the previous record of 43 set in 2007 in Monterrey, Mexico. The total marks the most countries to compete in the World Women's Championships since it split with the men's championships after the 2003 event in Malaysia.

And her perseverance paid off yesterday when she was named in the six-member bowling squad for the women's world championships, which will be held in Las Vegas from July 25-Aug 2. The others in the team are Esther Cheah, Shalin Zulkifli, Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman, Sharon Koh and Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimi.
With 72 combined career professional titles, Team USA will send its most seasoned team to the WTBA Women's World Championships. The biennial event will be held July 27-Aug. 2 in Las Vegas. Lynda Barnes (pictured left) and Stefanie Nation will be joined by professional veterans Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Liz Johnson, Kim Terrell-Kearney and Wendy Macpherson. The United States will be joined by 51 other countries in the quest to win medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All Events and Masters. .

1999 World Championships Masters champion and 2007 Bowling World Cup winner Ann-Maree Putney (pictured left) won the Australian Women's World Team Rolloff at AMF Keon Park. Putney averaged 212.67 over the final six-game qualifying block to win the trials with 260 points. The top six out of 10 players made the team. Joining Putney on the team for the Women’s World Championships in Las Vegas were Carol Gianotti, Maxine Nable, Natalie Shelley, Kara Triulcio and Bianca Flanagan.
