Team USA's Chris Barnes, Brittni Hamilton head to milestone World Cup

The QubicaAMF World Cup will celebrate a historic milestone when the 50th edition of the event takes place in Wroclaw, Poland, next week.
Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, and Brittni Hamilton of Wood Ridge, New Jersey, will represent Team USA at the event, which begins Tuesday with the first round of qualifying.
The event will be broadcast live on BOWL.com's BowlTV. Bowlingdigital.com will cover the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup live from Wroclaw including reports, photos and results after each round.
The World Cup is considered one of the sport's most prestigious singles titles and will draw bowlers from 88 countries, making it the largest event in the sport in terms of number of countries competing.
It will be the first World Cup appearance for Barnes, whose wife Lynda won the 2005 World Cup in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
"The World Cup has a 50-year tradition of being renowned as a premier international competition," Barnes (pictured left) said.
"It has been an event that has treated the athletes admirably, with a long list of champions signifying the best of the best in the international sport, including my wife. I have long hoped for an opportunity to compete and have the possibility to join that list of great champions."
Hamilton said she has been preparing diligently over the past weeks as she will also make her World Cup debut next week.
"These past few weeks I have been working really hard to prepare for this event and I'm feeling really confident for this competition," Hamilton said. "I am feeling a bunch of emotions right now. I'm nervous but excited and confident. I'm just ready for the World Cup to start and show the world who I am."
The World Cup features a long qualifying format as all players bowl four five-game blocks over four days. The field is then cut to the top 24 men and top 24 women for eight additional games to determine the top eight for round-robin match play. After match play, the top three men and top three women advance to the stepladder finals.
Barnes and Hamilton (pictured left, with their medals and trophies) earned the right to compete in the World Cup by winning the 2014 United States Bowling Congress Team USA Trials in January.
