Squad A leader Liza Del Rosario takes 101-pin lead in women's division at 50th World Cup

    Filipina out averages her nearest competitor by more than 20 pins; with B Squad to bowl later this afternoon, score to make the cut in 24th place is currently 875 (175 average)

    2014BWCLizaDelRosario.jpg2014BWCSinLiJane.jpgLiza del Rosario (pictured left), Philippines, averaged 239 for five games to set the pace in the women's division of the 50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup Tuesday afternoon at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland.

    The 2003 World Champion in Trios toppled 1195 pins in Squad A including games of 244, 236, 213, 287 and 215 and out averaged her nearest competitor, Sin Li Jane (right) of Malaysia, by more than 20 pins. Li Jane used high games of 248, 232 and 227 for 1094 (218.80 average).

    Last year's runner-up Cherie Tan (right) of Singapore was further 27 pins behind with 1057.

    Tan, who lost to Caroline Lagrange of Canada in the title match of the 49th World Cup in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, Russia, two-games-to-one, had five games between 203 and 225.

    Two-time World Cup winner Lagrange had a rough day and finished the squad in 15th place with 950 (190 average). She started with two games over 200 but closed out with three subpar games.

Two-time World Cup champion Aumi Guerra of the Dominican Republic was the seventh and last player who averaged over 200 with 1012 and an average of 202.40.

    Rounding out the top 8 was Bianca Tofilau of New Zealand with 995 (199 average). Simona Fasol of Italy held the 24th and last place to qualify for the intermediate round on Saturday with 875 or an average of 175.

    The women of Squad B will start their first qualifying round at 6.30 p.m. CET.

    Live coverage and live streaming commences on Tuesday, November 4th, with the first round of qualifying and concludes on Sunday 9th with the stepladder finals.

    2014BWCLogo.jpg The preliminaries consist of four blocks of five games with the top 24 men and the top 24 women after 20 games advancing to the intermediate round. Those 24 players bowl further 8 games with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 28 games will bowl a further seven games round robin match play plus one game position round (total 8 games) with 30 pins bonus per win and 15 for a tie.

    The top 3 men and the top 3 women after 36 games including bonus pins will determine the champions in the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format.
