50th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup kicks off with Official Practice, Opening Ceremonies

    Competition runs from November 4-9 at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland




     The 2014 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup got underway on Monday morning, Nov. 3, with the official practice at Sky Bowling Center in Wroclaw, Poland. The 50th edition of the prestigious event will be officially opened during the Opening Ceremonies starting at 7 p.m. CET in the atrium of the Sky Tower (click image to enlarge), the highest building in Poland and home of Sky bowling center.

    Though some teams haven't been arrived yet, approximately 150 players from more than eighty countries will attend the grand opening which makes the 50th anniversary edition the biggest event in the sport of tenpin bowling in regard to participating countries. It is the second visit of the World Cup to Wroclaw after hosting the 48th edition in 2012.

    Live coverage and live streaming will commence on Tuesday, November 4th, with the first round of qualifying and concludes on Sunday 9th with the stepladder finals.

    2014BWCLogo.jpg The preliminaries consist of four blocks of five games with the top 24 men and the top 24 women after 20 games advancing to the intermediate round. Those 24 players bowl further 8 games with the pinfall total from the preliminaries being carried forward.

    The top 8 men and the top 8 women after 28 games will bowl a further seven games round robin match play plus one game position round (total 8 games) with 30 pins bonus per win and 15 for a tie.

    The top 3 men and the top 3 women after 36 games including bonus pins will determine the champions in the stepladder finals in best-of-three games format.
