Wu Siu Hong, Tracy See lead by 39 pins after the first round of the finals in Macau

    Hong Kong's Siu Hong averages 247.67 to pace the men's division; Singapore's See leads the women with 232.67 average; players return Monday for the second block before the cut to the top 6 for the stepladder finals

    Siu Hong averaged 247.67 over six games and toppled 1486 pins, including games of 279, 267, 199, 245, 231 and 265 21, to lead the men's division after 6 of 12 games. Local bowler Zoe Dias Ma used high games of 265, 251 and 245 to take second place with 1447 (241.17).

    2015MacauOpenDaisukeYoshida2.jpgDefending champion Tomoyuki Sasaki of Japan came out of the gates commandingly with 279, 279 and 258 (816), but had to settle for fourth place with 1429 total after finishing with 196, 230 and 187.

    Sasaki's fellow countryman Daisuke Yoshida (right) rolled his second perfecto of the tournament in game three and the fourth overall. Yoshida totaled 1405, good for sixth place overall.

    Chinese Taipei's Chou Chia Chen (right) had six games between 247 and 204 to sit in second place with 1357 (226.17). See's compatriot Nur Dyana (below left) was further 36 pins behind in third place with 1321 (220.17) thanks to a strong finish with games of 262 and 256.

    Places 4 to 7 belong to Korean bowlers, Kim So Yeon (1314), Lee Da Woom 1300), Hong Hae Ni and qualifying leader Lee Young Seung, both on 1286.

    2015MacauOpenNurDyana.jpgThe 30 women and 40 men will return on Monday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. China Standard Time, respectively, for the second six game block after which the field will be trimmed to the top six men and the top six women for the stepladder finals starting at 5 p.m. CST Monday afternoon.

    In the opening match the 4th, 5th & 6th seeded bowlers will bowl one game. The bowler with the highest score will meet the No. 2 and No. 3 seed in the semifinal match with the winner advancing to the championship match. The top-seeded bowler must be defeated twice to win the title.

    The top 16 Asian men and top 8 Asian women in the Macau Open will qualify for the sixth leg of the 2015 Asian Bowling Federation Tour to be held June 23 also at COTAI bowling center in Macau.
