Top seeded Chien Hsiu Lan, Chinese Taipei, and Bandar Al Shafi, Qatar, (pictured) both rolled big games in the women's and men's championship matches to cruise to the titles in the 34th Hong Kong International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships at Hong Kong Bowling City in Hong Kong, China.

Chien (right), who led the women's Open Masters since the qualifying, held off local favorite Chan Shuk Han, Hong Kong, 246-200, to claim the women's title and the HK$18,000 (USD2,305) top prize.

Chan, the No. 4 seed, had games of 237 and 225 to win the first and second 3-player shoot-out matches for the right to bowl Chien for the title. Chan earned $15,000 for second place.

On the men's side Al Shafi (left) flew past No. 4 seed Chen Chun Chieh, Chinese Taipei, 279-194, to win the title and the 35,000 Hong Kong Dollars (approx. USD4,485) top prize.

Chen used a 267 game in the opening match to eliminate 2-time defending champion Wu Siu Hong, Hong Kong (222). The second match was a low scoring affair and Chen survived the round with a 195 game. He earned HK$15,000 for second.

The top 16 in the men's and women's Open Masters qualified for the 4th leg of the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour, which will be contested at the same venue on Sunday, June 8.

Al-Shafi had eight game series of 1819 and 1807 to secure the top spot in the men's division with 3626 pinfall total and an average of 226.23. Next were Wang Tien Fu, Chinese Taipei, and Lee Young Jun, Korea, with 3586 and 3508, respectively

Zhang Yuhong from China is just three pins behind Chan in third place with 1687. Fourth place belongs to Tang Joh Six, Malaysia, with 1653. Rounding out the top 6 are Wang Yu Ling and Liang Ya Ping, both Chinese Taipei, with 1651 and 1650, respectively.

Al-Shafi used a 279 game to lead the men's Open Masters finals with 1819 pinfall total and an average of 227.38. Trailing the Qatari by 46 pins to sit in second place is two-time defending champion Wu Siu Hong, Hong Kong, who chalked up 1773 pins (221.63).

Chien totaled 967 pins over four games, an average of 241.75, to lead the women's Overseas Pool. Two more players, Wu Sugin and Zhang Yuhong, both of China, cracked the 900 bar with 907.

Chien's compatriot Li Shiau Ping led the Local & Overseas Pool with 837.
