Duke defeated Pete Weber, St. Ann, Missouri, 234-216, for the Treasure Island Resort and Casino PBA50 World Championship presented by Storm in Welch, Minnesota.
In the opening match of the stepladder final Harry Sullins of Chesterfield Township, Michigan, downed Brian Kretzer of Dayton, Ohio, 201-193. Weber ousted Sullins, 234-186, and Parker Bohn III, Jackson, New Jersey, 264-214, to set up the title match with Duke.
Combined qualifying pinfall totals 15 games on PBA50 Viper, Chameleon, and Scorpion oil patterns determined the match play finalists for the PBA50 World Championship, leading up to a five-player stepladder final on Saturday, July 23.
Duke moved from sixth, to fourth, then finished match play as the top seed in the stepladder final. En route to the tournament top seed, Duke placed seventh in the Viper Championship, twelfth in the Chameleon Championship, and 32nd in the Scorpion Championship.
Others obtaining votes this month were Richard Teece, winner of the European Bowling Tour Roto Grip Polish Open, Ray Teece, winner of the European Bowling Tour IV Brunswick Madrid Challenge, Pete Weber, winner of the PBA50 South Shore Open, presented by DV8, and Shannon O’Keefe and Bill O’Neill, winners of the PBA/PWBA XtraFrame Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles, presented by Storm.
