« Pete Weber looks to continue record-breaking season

Weber won two PBA50 majors in the month, the Suncoast PBA Senior U.S. Open, presented by 900 Global, followed at the end of the month by the United States Bowling Congress Senior Masters. The two titles are also his fourth and fifth titles on the 2016 PBA50 Tour.
Weber defeated Harry Sullins, Chesterfield Township, Michigan, 223-184, for the PBA Senior U.S. Open title (pictured left with the eagle trophy). The fourth-seeded Sullins downed third-seeded Amleto Monacelli, Venezuela, 212-207, then second-seeded Brian Kretzer, Dayton, Ohio, 193-164, to set up the championship match with Weber.
In the USBC Senior Masters stepladder final, fifth-seeded Ron Mohr, Las Vegas, ousted fourth-seeded Andy Neuer, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, 212-181. Third-seeded Paul McCordic, Sugar Land, Texas beat Mohr 225-212, and second-seeded Dave Arnold, Elk Grove, California, 235-198, to advance to the title match.
Per USBC Senior Masters rule, as the survivor of the contenders bracket, McCordic needed to defeat Weber twice to claim the title. The Texas southpaw took the first game, 248-224. Needing a tenth-frame double in the second game, McCordic got the first strike. A fateful six-count on the second ball in the tenth was the difference in the 266-263 Weber win.
Others obtaining votes this month were Clara Juliana Guerrero, winner of the Go Bowling PWBA Players Championship, Jakob Butturff, winner of the Lubbock Sports PBA Open, presented by XtraFrame, Rocio Restrepo, winner of the PWBA Greater Detroit Open, and Tommy Jones, winner of the Downums Waste Services PBA Jonesboro Open, presented by XtraFrame.
