Tarrad, Limansantoso win 43rd Hong Kong International from top seed

Ammar Tarrad of Saudi Arabia and Sharon Limansantoso of Indonesia captured the men’s and women’s Open Masters titles in the 43rd Hong Kong International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships Saturday at South China Athletic Association Bowling Center in Hong Kong, China.

As the No. 1 seeds, Tarrad (left) and Limansantoso (right) had to sit and wait for their opponents, who had to defeat them twice to win the title.

Tarrad, who averaged 222.63 in Round 2 to lead the top 6 men into the stepladder finals, fell to Johnathan Chan of Malaysia in the first game, 169-191, but rebounded with a 233-202 win to wrap up his first career international title.

The Saudi pocketed 60,000 Hong Kong Dollars for the victory, approximately USD7,688. Chan was consoled with HKG $25,000.

Second-seeded Chan hold off Lalisang and Dhruv Sarda of India in the semi-finals, 201-189-182.

The women’s finale was an all-Indonesian affair with Limansantoso and her fellow countrywoman Alisha Nabila Larasati off (right, l-r). Limansantoso made quick work of her team mate sealing the victory with a 246-198 win.

Limansantoso took home HKG $30,000, while Larasati pocketed HKG $16,000 for second place.

Larasati, seeded fifth ousted Joy Yap of Singapore and Huang Chiung Yao of Chinese Taipei in the opening match, 190-179-160, and then downed No. 3 seed Angkana Netrviseth of Thailand and No. 2 seed Su Shu Wen, Chinese Taipei, 210-197-183, for the right to bowl Limansantoso for the title.

The top 16 Asian men and top 16 Asian women qualified for the fourth leg of the 2017 Asian Bowling Federation Tour to be held Sunday, July 16, once again at SCAA Bowling Center in Hong Kong, China.
