3rd World Seniors Invitational gets underway with Singles event in Florida

    Carvalho, Daniels, Srock claim first titles at Sawgrass Lanes in Tamarac

    2012WorldSeniorsInvitationalLogo.jpg Eugenio Carvalho averaged 239.17 to win the men's scratch division at the 3rd World Seniors Invitational Monday at Sawgrass Lanes in Tamarac, Fla., United States The Brazilian led the 13 players with 1435 six-game total. Jerry Daniels, United States, finished with 1336 including 30 pins handicap to win Men's Division C. Christine Srock, United States, captured the women's Singles winning the 12-player women's division with 1176 total. Competition continued Tuesday with the Doubles event.

    The 3rd World Seniors Invitational drew 37 players - 25 men and 12 women - from seven countries: Virgin Islands (12). Brazil (9), France (5), Bahamas (2), Ireland (2), Italy (2) and mere five from the host country United States.

    The WSI is open to senior bowlers in three age divisions: Division A: men 50-57 and women 45-52 years old; Division B: men 58-64 years and women 53-59; Division C: men 65 and older and women 60 and older. The age on the day of the start of the Tournament will be used to determine the age group.

    Division A and B will receive no handicap. All the participants in the C group will receive for each game played, a bonus of 1 point for each full year they are older than the age of 65 years.

    Due to the low number of entries, Men A and B and all women compete in one division, respectively. Bowlers will bowl Singles, Doubles and Trios and a two-day Master's event.
