2012 Canadian National Championships to take place at Mississauga's Classic Bowl

    2012CANNCPoster.jpg 150 of the top bowlers in Canada - 97 men and 53 women - will compete for the right to wear Team Canada colors in 2013 at the 2012 National Championships which will take place from May 17-21 at Classic Bowl in Mississauga, Ontario.

    The entrants include 16 women and 21 men who will be under 20 years of age on January 1, 2013 and eligible for the 2013 Team Canada youth team and will participate in the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) Youth Championships at a location and date to be determined.

    The Canadian National Championships is an annual tournament consisting of 30 games over four days. Activities begin on Thursday, May 17th at Classic Bowl with the official practice for men and women.

    All players will bowl three six-game blocks on the first three days May 18th to 20th, one block on long, one on short and one on medium lane condition pattern. After the third block, the field will be cut to the top 18 men and the top 12 women with the 18-game total being carried forward.

    On Monday, May 21st, all finalists bowl 12 games of match play on two of the three oil patterns (random selection) to determine the champions. The 12th game for both men and women will be a position round. 10 points will be awarded for a win, 5 for a tie and zero for a loss.

    At the conclusion of match play, the top six men and six women will form the adult teams. Another two men and two women will be selected by the National Selection Committee to form the 2013 Adult Team Canada.

    The Youth Team Canada will be comprised of the top four youth males plus one alternate and top four youth females plus one alternate from the final standings.

    The 2013 Adult Team Canada will compete at the Combined World Championships in 2013 (men and women), which will be staged August 18-31 at Strike Zone Bowling Center in Henderson, Nevada, United States.

    Canada is also one of the eight countries who recently qualified for the World Games in Cali, Colombia. The bowling competition will be held from August 1-4.

    Two men and women from the team will bowl for Canada at the 2013 Tournament of the Americas in Orlando, Florida.

    The 2012 Canadian National Championships will conclude on Monday evening with a banquet which will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott where the teams will be honored and medals presented. The evening will include the Hall of Fame induction of Kerrie Ryan-Ciach of Mississauga, Ontario and Jack Brace of Toronto, Ont.
