Four divisional finalists win $50,000 each in prize money

The $700,000 AMF National In-League Tournament 2012 started with more than 25,000 AMF league bowlers, After several rounds, 108 players secured their spots in the National Finals which were held at The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. on April 27 and 28.

The finalists were divided into four divisions, Open (average 200+), A (199-180), B (179-160) and C (159 and below) division. The divisions were based upon the skill level of the bowler and their qualifying bowling average. After two days of elimination-style competition, the four division winners each walked away with $50,000.

"It was our third year - and our biggest and best yet. Once again, our league bowlers demonstrated an impressive level of skill and sportsmanship," AMF CEO and President Fred Hipp said.

"It's our pleasure to celebrate the sport of bowling and award these top finishers with a great experience and some extra and well-deserved cash"

Although only one person in each division was crowned the $50,000 grand prize winner, every national finalist walked away with prize money, ranging from $25,000 for second place to $250 for the bowlers finishing in 17th to 27th place.

"The nature of the pins-over-average (POA) format creates excitement through each round of competition and illustrates the competitor's ability to perform under pressure and compete at a level above their qualifying average," said tournament director Kathy Hart,

"Each year, we look forward to experiencing the competition right alongside the bowlers and awarding them for their accomplishments."

Division winners worked their way through a nine-week qualifying period, followed by two weeks of in-center finals at each AMF location and 27 district finals events at select AMF locations nationwide. AMF already has awarded approximately $300,000 in prize money to center and district finalists. AMF will announce details of the 2013 Tournament in early summer.
