Canada will compete in the 50th annual Tournament of the Americas

Canada will compete in the 50th annual Tournament of the Americas, which will be held at Sawgrass Lanes, Tamarac in Greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida, The tournament, which which was originated in Miami, Fla., to 'unite the Americas through bowling', will be conducted from July 28th - August 4th. 17 countries are expected to participate.
The anniversary event will also include a special Tournament of Champions for those who won medals in one of the previous 49 events.
The Tournament of the Americas is conducted in five divisions - three adults (adults, seniors and super seniors) and two youth (16-19 &12-15). Canada will be represented in all but the 12-15 division. Players who qualified in three national tournaments will compete for Canada.
The adult team will be Kimberely Green, Duncan, British Columbia and France Joubert, Quebec City, QC for the adult women. Graham Fach, Guelph, Ontario and Douglas Yu, Richmond Hill, ON will compete in the adult men's division. They were selected from the 2012 Team Canada, who qualified at the 2011 National Championships held in the Montreal, QC area.
The senior team (50+) members are Catherine Harvey, Orillia, Ontario and Edith Lee, Markham, ON, Senior women; Robert Campbell, Montreal, Quebec and Donald Lee, Scarborough, ON Senior men.
In the Super Senior division (60+), Alan Chan, Markham, ON and Ron Theriault, Lachine, QC are the men. Debbie Ip, Edmonton, Alberta and Mary Leung, Markham, ON will compete in the women's Super Senior division.
The Senior and Super Senior team members were the highest All Events finishers in their age division from the 2012 National Mixed Championships held in Windsor, ON.
The youth team is Miranda Panas, St. Catharines, ON and Cierra Hollis, Montreal, QC for the girls. Mitch Hupe, Winnipeg, Manitoba and Justin Falkner, Tecumseh, ON will represent the boys.
The youth team is selected from the 2012 National Youth Championships held in Quebec City, QC.
Six former Canadian champions will compete in the Champions events: Elizabeth Wong and Lauraine Fast, Calgary, AB, Sherry Hobson and Randy Kostenuk, Winnipeg, MB, Miles Nerona, New Westminster, BC and Debbie Uter, Surrey, BC.
Tyrel Rose, Montreal, QC and Damien Skellings, Calgary, Alberta will coach the team. Lucien Casagrande, Winnipeg, MB will be the team manager. Hazel McLeary, CTF Public Relations Coordinator from Victoria, BC, will attend to report to the Canadian media.
