The Team USA member and four-time world champion defeated Olivia Sandham of Wichita, Kan. in the title match, 247-239.

After three qualifying squads, Bryanna Caldwell, Red Rock, Ariz., led all bowlers with 1,409 for six games (234.83 avg.) with Sandham the last to qualify in 16th place with 1,225 (204.16 avg.). Throughout the eight games of match play, Caldwell dominated the field by 244 pins until she was knocked out in the third round of single elimination.

The championship match was pressure packed as Sandham was in control until the 7th frame when she left a six-count split and then got only one pin on the second shot. That was the opportunity Pluhowsky needed as she threw the last six strikes to lock out Sandham and hoist the trophy and $2,000 prize.

Sandham received $1,250 for her second place finish which was a fantastic run considering she was in 16th place after qualifying rounds.

The next WBA event is the Illinois Open hosted by Jon Jordan from Sept. 28-30 at Spare Time Lanes in Decatur, Ill., that boasts a $5,000 1st place guarantee. The WBA relies on personal donations for future prize funds. For more information visit www.WBAbowling.com.
