TeenMastersLogoH.jpg Nearly 300 United States Bowling Congress youth members from across the country will battle for the unique opportunity to compete in a nationally-televised, arena setting next week in Orlando, Fla., at the Teen Masters, sponsored by USBC.

In addition to the arena setting and ESPN2-televised finals, throw in the fact the final rounds will be held at Universal Studios Orlando and it has all the makings of an unprecedented event.

KillerBPromoationGaryBeck_small.jpg "I've done a dozen arena events on the PBA Tour and it always takes the event to a totally different level emotionally," said Gary Beck (pictured), president of Killer B Promotions which is conducting the Teen Masters for the ninth time. "It's exciting for those who participate both as athletes and as spectators."

Conducted on challenging USBC Sport Bowling lane conditions, the Teen Masters has held qualifying events throughout the year leading up to the national finals.

Sport Bowling is an optional program of leagues and tournaments in which lane conditions must meet precise and challenging requirements much less forgiving than a standard league condition.

Bowlers competing in Orlando will take part in 12 qualifying games on Aug. 2-3 before the field is cut to the top third. Once eight boys and eight girls remain in match play, action shifts over to the arena setup at Universal Studios Orlando on Aug. 4-5.

The top two boys and two girls will battle Aug. 6 for their respective championships on the ESPN2 telecast, scheduled to air Oct. 16 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern. The two winners will then face off to determine the overall Teen Masters champion.

The boys and girls champion are each guaranteed $7,500 scholarships while the total scholarship purse for the event is approximately $50,000. The Teen Masters features predominately high school-aged bowlers.
