TeenMastersLogoH.jpg Today, four of the best youth bowlers in the nation will square off in one of the most unique venues ever to stage a televised bowling event for the 2006 Teen Masters National Championships. The matches begin at 1 pm inside Sound Stage 33 at Universal Studios Orlando. The show will be taped for viewing on ESPN2 October 16.

The boys championship match will feature two 17-year-olds – Jake Peters, Decater, Illinois will face Jon Brady, Clearwater, Florida. Peters defeated Teen Masters defending champion John Szczerbinski 3-2 to earn his spot in the title match, and Brady swept Brett Cunningham 3-0, although the middle game went to a tiebreaker when both shot 216.

"It's the most amazing feeling ever especially after winning the most hard-fought match of my life," said Peters. "John being the defending champion was the man to beat, and it was very tough."

Brady, like Peters, is looking forward to bowling on television for the first time. "I might be a little nervous, but I'm usually able to keep my emotions under control," he said.

In earlier matches, the girls put on quite a show for the arena fans. 16-year-old Brittni Hamilton, Webster, New York made a very tough mixed Sport Bowling oil pattern look easy by sweeping her best of five match against Ashley Stahurski with games of 234, 220, and a brilliant closing 280 in which she left only a 9 pin in the second frame. "I just found a line and kept shooting it. Carry was really good for me today, and I'm getting used to the arena. I hope I can do it again tomorrow," she said.

Following the Hamilton-Stahurski match, qualifying leader Ashly Galante was pushed to the max by semi-final opponent Jasmine Coleman. Galante won the first two games, but Coleman battled back to take the next two, and Galante pulled it out with a 185-170 final game victory.

"I had a really tough match," said Galante. "My line broke down and I had to move. Thanks to my dad, I made the right adjustments and when I hit my mark, it was really good," she said.

The players will be bowling single game matches today for $7500 in scholarship awards, and after the two champions are determined, there will be a third game featuring the boys champion against the girls champion for an additional $2500 in scholarship awards, giving the overall winner a total of $10,000 in scholarship money.
