Gold and Bronze for Venezuela in South American Club Championships Mixed Trios event

2007SACCTriosSilver.jpg Bowling Cub Miranda from Venezuela captured the gold medal in the 2007 South American Club Championships Mixed Trios event at Norte Bowling Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while their compatriots of Bowling Club Anzoategui earned the bronze medal. Women's Singles gold medalist Stephanie Martins (center) of Gladiators Bowl Clube, Brazil, teamed with Decio Abreu (left) and Fabio Rezende (right) to win the silver medal.

Miranda finished with the field-best 711 series to secure the victory with 3796 six-game total or an average of 632.50 per game. The Gladiators, who led the field with 1901 after the first three games 71 pins ahead of Miranda, closed out the series with three sub-par games, 573, 588 and 538, to land in second place with 3600, a 600 average.

Anzoategui saved the best for the last when the team rolled its sole 600-plus games with 618 to beat out men's Singles champion Rodrigo Hermes and team mates Titila Alvarez and Juliano Oliveira of Barra Bowling, Brazil, for the bronze medal by mere one pin, 3538 to 3537.

The South American Club Championships continue on Friday with the Team event. The players will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Mixed Trios (one woman and two men) and Mixed Teams (2 women and 4 men). The competition will conclude with the Master Finals.
