Teen Masters bowlers rolled on a mixed pattern Wednesday morning and the field of 88 boys and 42 girls was cut to 32 and 16 at the Orleans in Las Vegas.

Florida's Andrew Koff and Ashly Galante held on to the lead they have had the past couple of rounds to capture the top seeds going into the match play.

Koff rolled a 1,243 in the third round to finish the 18 games of qualifying at 3,891, a 216.1 average. Galante leads the girls division with 3,666, an average of 203.6 for qualifying.

"I had a little trouble this morning adjusting speeds for the two different patterns, but I just focused on the lines I played on the long and short oil," said Koff. "I finally got it and shot 240 the last game."

Both leaders used two different balls on the mixed patterns. One of the keys to Galante's success was using a changeable thumb insert in both of the balls used this morning on the long and short patterns.

"I struggled a little on the long pattern this morning," said Galente. "It was different than the first day for me, so it took me a little while to find my line, but it was not too bad. I'm happy to be the leader."

The top 32 boys begin match play Wednesday afternoon, with girls starting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, when they will be joined by the top 16 boys. All matches will be best of five games.
