Malaysians Zulkifli, Li Jane lead Singapore Open finals after the first 8-game block

Zulmazran Zulkifli and Sin Li Jane, both Malaysia, led the men's and women's Singapore Open Masters finals after the first 8-game block Friday at Orchid Bowl at Orchid Country Club in Singapore.
Zulkifli (center) had seven games between 210 and 245 and a low game of 189 to lead the men's division with 1769 pinfall total and an average of 221.13 for eight games. Trailing Zulkifli by 21 pins to sit in second place was local favorite Remy Ong.
The two-time world champion and 3-time Asian Games gold medalist (left) rolled two games under 200 and six games between 214 and 247 to finish his series with 1748 (218.50). Rickle Kam (right), Hong Kong, used the high game of 279 to land in third place with 1729 (216.13).
Adrian Ang, Malaysia, is fourth with 1703 and Basil Low, Singapore is fifth with 1700.
Pro bowler Tim Mack finished the first block in 13th place with 1632 with qualifying leader Surasak Manuwong, Thailand, close behind in 14th place with 1619.

Sin Li Jane (left) started her first block with a huge 266 game and added 184, 200, 211, 257, 201, 236 and 209 to lead the women's division with 1764 total and an average of 220.50. New Hui Fen (right), Singapore, fired the women's high game of 278 on her way to the second place with 1746 (218.25).
Third place belonged to Li Hsiao Ping, Chinese Taipei, with 1712 (214.00). Rounding out the top 5 were Esther Cheah and Zandra Aziela, both Malaysia, with 1704 and 1682, respectively.
Women's qualifying leader Kristel Oh, Singapore, was tied for 17th place with 1579 and is already 125 pins off the pace for 4th place.
42 men and 30 women including defending champions Shaker Al-Hassan, UAE, and Sharon Koh, Malaysia, advanced to the Masters Finals.
Men and women will bowl two 8-game blocks to determine the top 4 players, who will advance to the stepladder finals. The winner of the opening match between the 2md, 3rd and 4th seed earns the right to bowl the No. 1 seed for the title. The No. 1 seed must be defeated twice to win the title.
In addition to the prize money, S$5,000 will be shared equally amongst the bowlers who roll a perfect game in qualifying, in the Masters finals and in the stepladder finals.
