The Korean women trios played in their own league and cruised to the gold and silver medals in the 20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships in Hong Kong, China. Gye Min-Young, Gang Hye-Eun and Jeon Eun-Hee (l.) overtook Choi Jin-A, Hwang Sun-Ok and Kim Yeau-Jin in the final game to win the title. while Taipei spinners Chien Hsiu-Lan, Wang Yu-Ling and Huang Chiung-Yao earned the bronze medal.

Defending champion Malaysia is on course to retain the men's five-player Team title in the 20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships in Hong Kong. Alex Liew, Daniel Lim, Adrian Ang, Aaron Kong and Zulmazran Zulkifli led the field of 17 teams after the first 3-game block on short oil with 3427 pinfall total and an average of 228.47. With three more games to go on Wednesday Qatar sits in second place with 3397. The young team from the host country Hong Kong and the UAE are tied for third place with 3337. Yanni Argyros, Egypt, shot the first 300 by a man in this year's event.

The women's team from Singapore led the first block on short oil in the Team event for the first two games in the Asian Championships in Hong Kong on Monday evening, but at the end the 'usual suspects', Korea and Malaysia, finished 1, 2 with Singapore in third. Defending team champion Korea, (pictured left), which finished 1, 2 in Trios after the first block on long oil this morning, had games of 1066, 1106 and 1137 to take the pole position at halftime with 3309 or an average of 220.60.

With the first three games on long oil in the books, Malaysia, Philippines and Hong Kong hold the top spots in the men's Trios event in the 20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships. Adrian Ang, Aaron Kong and Mohd Nur Aiman (left, l-r) of Malaysia rolled games of 702, 680 and 615 to lead the 35 trios with 1997 3-game total and an average of 221.89. With Filipinos Raoul Miranda, Chestex King and Frederick Ong mere one pin behind and Hong Kong's boy group Wu Siu Hong, Cyrus Cheung and Eric Tseng further 16 pins behind anything can happen in tomorrow's final block on short oil.

Eric Tseng and Cyrus Cheung stunned the favorites when they claimed the first gold medal for the host country Hong Kong in the Men's doubles event at the 20th Asian Championships Sunday evening at Hong Kong Bowling City. The underdogs finished with 2750 pinfall total or an average of 229.17. Qatar standouts Bandar Al Shafi and Mubarak Al Muraikhi took the silver medal with 2653, while long-time Japanese internationals Masaru Ito and Masaaki Takemoto earned the bronze medal with 2607. Squad 1 leader UAE had to settle for fourth place with 2579.

The Malaysian top stars finished their six-game block on long oil with games of 494, 478 and 429 to win the event with 2699 pinfall total and an average of 224.92. Jeon Eun-Hee and Gye Min-Young from Korea won the silver medal while the bronze medal went to Chinese spinners Chen Dongdong and Wu Suqin.
